We take great care to ensure that every bird leaving our facility is healthy, well-socialized, and accurately represented. Because we deal with live animals, our Refund and Returns Policy is designed to balance customer protection with animal welfare. Please read our policy carefully before making a purchase or adoption.


1. Health Guarantee

All parrots sold or adopted from HandRareDParrots.com come with a comprehensive health guarantee. Each bird is examined by a licensed avian veterinarian prior to shipment and comes with a health certificate, ensuring that the parrot is free from known diseases or genetic defects at the time of sale.

If, within 72 hours of receiving your parrot, a licensed avian veterinarian finds a major health problem that existed prior to shipping, we will:

  • Replace the parrot with another of equal value, or

  • Issue a refund minus shipping costs, provided the issue is confirmed in writing by the vet.

Health guarantee claims must be submitted in writing within 72 hours of arrival, accompanied by a veterinarian’s signed report.


2. Refund Eligibility

Refunds may be approved under the following conditions:

  • The parrot arrives deceased or severely injured due to transport issues (with immediate photo and vet documentation).

  • A verified health issue is identified within 72 hours of delivery.

  • The wrong parrot (species, color, or gender) was shipped due to an administrative error.

Refunds will not be issued for the following:

  • Buyer’s change of mind or personal circumstances.

  • Allergies, incompatibility with other pets, or family objections.

  • Parrot stress-related issues (such as not eating or talking immediately) — as parrots often require time to adjust.

  • Improper handling or negligence by the buyer after delivery.


3. Return Policy

Because parrots are highly sensitive, returning a bird is not a simple process. A return can only be accepted under approved circumstances that align with our welfare standards.

If a return is authorized:

  • The parrot must be returned in the same health and condition it was received.

  • All original documentation (health certificate, DNA papers, receipts, and accessories) must accompany the bird.

  • The buyer must cover return shipping costs and any veterinary expenses incurred after purchase.

Once the parrot arrives and is examined by our avian vet, a partial or full refund will be processed depending on the condition and circumstances.


4. Cancellations

We understand that situations can change. Orders may be canceled under the following conditions:

  • Before shipping: You may cancel your order within 24 hours of payment for a full refund.

  • After shipping: Cancellations are not allowed once the parrot has been dispatched, as transportation involves live-animal arrangements that cannot be reversed.

Special or pre-order parrots (including rare species or custom-bred birds) require a non-refundable deposit to cover care, feeding, and reservation expenses.


5. Shipping Delays and Damages

We work closely with certified live animal carriers to ensure your parrot’s safety and comfort during transit. However, in rare cases of delay due to weather, flight changes, or carrier errors:

  • We will coordinate immediately with the airline to resolve the issue.

  • No refunds will be issued for minor delays beyond our control, but we will guarantee safe delivery.

  • In case of serious harm or loss caused by shipping mishandling, compensation will be handled based on the carrier’s live-animal liability terms.


6. Post-Adoption Support Instead of Return

At HandRareDParrots.com, we strongly encourage owners to contact us before considering a return. Our team can help resolve most concerns, such as:

  • Adjusting to a new environment

  • Feeding or training difficulties

  • Behavioral issues (biting, screaming, etc.)

Our goal is to ensure a successful bonding process between you and your parrot. If you are struggling, we will provide free consultation and behavioral guidance before recommending a return.


7. Rehoming Assistance

If, for any reason, you are no longer able to care for your parrot, we offer rehoming assistance. Rather than returning the bird or selling it privately, you may surrender it back to our facility where it will be cared for and placed with a new, suitable owner.

This ensures the parrot remains in a safe, loving environment and prevents it from ending up in an unsuitable or neglectful home. Rehoming assistance is not considered a refund service.


8. Refund Processing Time

All approved refunds will be processed within 7–14 business days after the parrot has been returned and examined by our avian veterinarian. Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the purchase.


9. Customer Responsibility

To qualify for any refund, replacement, or claim, the buyer must:

  • Follow the care instructions provided.

  • Have the parrot examined by a licensed avian veterinarian within 72 hours of arrival.

  • Notify us immediately if there are any concerns with health or shipment.
    Failure to follow these steps may void the health guarantee and refund eligibility.
